Week 71- LAST EMAIL!

Hi everyone!

This week has been crazy but one full of miracles too. We were able to finish teaching our investigator all the lessons, she got her interview on friday, was baptized saturday and confirmed yesterday. She is so amazing and she is going to make a wonderful member. She is already being a missionary to her family and friends. She is the most prepared person to receive the gospel that I have ever met. We didn't do anything, it was all her.

This week I happened to lock the keys in the trunk 30 mins before zone meeting with the object lesson in there. We called pep boys and they said they will be there 60 to 90 minutes. We just didn't know what to do, so we prayed. In the middle of our prayer our phone started to ring and the guy said he would be there in 5 mins. It really was a miracle.

My companion is so awesome that she went off of sweets until her investigator got baptized. That was almost a year ago. He needed permission from the first presidency to get baptized and that is what they have been waiting on. She has been so faithful, I would have given up months ago. We got a phone call this week from president and he read to us the letter from the prophet saying that he could get baptized.

So many miracles this week, what a great way to end my mission! I will see you all on friday!

Love,

Hermana Jacobsen

Week 70

I have a lot of mixed feelings as I begin my last full week of being a missionary. I know it will go ridiculously fast. This last week was great. We were teaching one of our investigators and we asked her when she wanted to get baptized. She said that may is going to be really busy for her so naturally we were thinking sometime in june but then she said that wednesday would be good! And we were like "wait, THIS wednesday?!" We settled on Saturday but we have a lot of work to do this week. It will keep me busy I'm excited.

The book of mormon musical is back in Boston so again, I had the opportunity to stand outside and hand out copies of the Book of Mormon. There are a lot of mixed experiences with that. We got some people who were really interested, some even came looking for us so they could get a copy. Some laughed at us, others yelled. It's funny how you start to not care what people think of you, as long as you know it's right. It didn't phase me at all. I may have accidentally given a gay guy a pass along card that says "how can I make my marriage stronger" oops.

I finally got a mormon helping hands vest! Woot, we did a stake service project and picked up garbage all around revere and they had those vests for us. I was really excited about that, and there didn't even have to be a natural disaster for me to get one!

I love you all! See you soon!

Week 69 (Part 2)

Hello Everyone!

It is really weird to think that I will be seeing you all in just over 2 weeks. I warn you now that I will probably be a little weird haha.

Things have been going great here in the MBM with record breaking number of baptismal dates and some really good weather.

Boston knows how to do patriotic holidays. There was so much going on yesterday. In the morning we went to a battle reenactment of the first shots fired in the revolutionary war. That was pretty cool even though the British completely destroyed us in that battle. A member lives close to where it was so they invited us over for breakfast afterwards. Afterward we went to the marathon. It was significantly better that it was last year, but I do have to say that it was less exciting. There was also a redsox game yesterday but we didn't go to it. We just took some pictures outside of the stadium. It was fun walking around downtown with so many people because we were stopped 10 different times throughout the day so that members from around the country could say hi. We would just be walking and we would hear "look missionaries!" one of them gave me a hug and said it was so good it see us. I love how the church unites so many people, it doesn't matter where you are from. I felt a little famous haha.

This last week we had the opportunity to go to a temple session in spanish! It was really cool, I'm glad that I was able to understand all of it too. It gives you a different perspctive when you hear it in other languages. I'm excited to go to the temple more when I get home. We will have to have a temple night! I really want to go to the Salt Lake Temple.
Easter was amazing. We actually had stake conference that day too. There were a lot of wonderful talks about the atonement. I love learning more about the atonement and how it can take us from good to better. We don't have to do bad things for the atonement to apply to us, it's what gives us the power to better ourselves every day.

Well I really have to get going but I love you all! Have a great week!

Con Amor,

Boston Marathon!

Week 69 (Part 1)

Hey everyone!

I'm emailing from the apple store again! I forgot that it was a holiday today so all the libraries are closed. We went to a battle re-inactment in lexington of the first shots fired in the revolutionary war. It was pretty cool but we had to get up at 3:30 to get there on time. I did my make-up in the car on the way there haha. I hope we get to take a nap later. We are going to pop by the marathon and then probably head home. There is going to be a LOT of people there. All the runners who didn't get to finish last year got to run again this year. I will probably get back on tomorrow to email. Love you! Have a good Patriots Day!

Week 68

Hello Everyone!

So apparently everyone and their dog reads the blog Noel is running before coming out to the Massachusetts Boston Mission. I saw a sister the other day and she was like "Oh my gosh! You are Sister Jacobsen! I read your blog! It's been a long time since you have written your family!" haha so I decided it was about time to write another group email haha.

Things are going great! I am in Revere MA, and loving it. It is such a great place. I love my companion, Sister Romans. I couldn't ask for any better way to end my mission. This area was going really slow when I first got here but now we have a solid investigator. We didn't even have to ask her to get baptized, she just said I think I'll get baptized in may. haha she is so great. She came to church for the first time yesterday. The best thing ever is to see the people you are helping finally make it to church and take the sacrament.

The most exhausting days for missionaries are sundays. I always say, if you are not running around crazy, you are doing something wrong haha. There were a lot of non members there yesterday and we had to run around to make sure they were all being cared for. There were 2 that just saw the chapel and walked in. The Elders gave them blessings. Right now we are working a lot with the members and helping them share the gospel with their family and friends. That's really where all the work is at. The members are the best way to share the gospel. If there is one thing I have learned from my mission is how to be a member missionary.

Well I love you all! Not sure when I will be on next week because we will be going to the marathon :D

Have a good week!
Con muchisimo amor,
Hna Jacobsen

Week 59

Hello Everyone!

Sorry it has been a while since I have sent out an email to all of you. Computer time becomes really short sometimes. Live has been good here in Providence RI. I am just finishing up the training of my newest child Sister Skabelund. She is great and a wonderful missionary. In fact she is so good that she is getting a new missionary to train TONIGHT. Which means that I am getting transferred. Transfer meeting was supposed to be tomorrow but there is another snow storm coming (of course) so they texted us this morning and told us that transfer meeting changed to tonight! I have a lot of packing to do! I am going to be transferred to Revere, MA. That is really close to my first area! It's actually in the same zone! I will "die" close to where I was "born" :D I'm really excited!

President Packard called me on saturday and asked me to be a Sister Training Leader. It's a new calling for sisters that the church started this last year. It is basically a zone leader but for sisters. We spend 50% of our time in our areas and the other 50% helping the sisters you are assigned to, with training them, going on exchanges, ect. I am super nervous, but really excited to serve other sisters. Pray for me! I'm a little sad though because I am going to learn all this awesome stuff and then I will go home. But that is the way the Lord wanted it. I am sad to leave providence, there are a lot of awesome people out here, but I know I will come back to see them. And I trust that sister skabelund will do an awesome job with them.

We met this girl last week and let me tell you, she is one of the most prepared people to hear the gospel that I have ever met. She just moved here from Columbia, and the Lords really was the one who brought her here. She understands so well what we teach her and is able to listen to and recognize the spirit. She loves going to church and eagerly accepted a baptismal date for the 23 of march :D. I'm sad I won't be here for it, but I am super excited for her.

Another person we have been working with has struggled with drinking every day. She has not had a drink in over a week! Her countenance is so much brighter and she is so much happier! She was able to come to church, because she wasn't hung over, and she loved it! She is preparing to get baptized with her son on the 30 of march. I love seeing the atonement work in other people's lives and how much it can change them, and how much happier they can be. It is a great thing to see!

I love you all and I am excited to see you in 12 weeks!

Love,
Hermana Jacobsen

They all know I like to get my back scratched. :D

Week 54 - Pictures

Marianne! I taught her in Boston and I was able to go back for her baptism! I love her, she is the sweetest girl ever!

Best P-day ever!!

This was the snow storm, it wasn't too bad. We went out the next day and shoveled people's driveways.

The primary party had Santa Clause, we couldn't sit on his lap though.

A lab and boxer mix! He was so cute!

Christmas Eve at the Calderon's house.

Our elders are goofy.

Christmas day we had dinner at a member's house and played games. I was voted to play the impossible apple eating game.

This is me eating octopus... sooo distustingly chewy.

Snow shoveling at an investigators house after the storm.

We like to make our envelopes all frilly when we have to send in our car reports for the month to the vehicle coordinator. :D

My cute little christmas tree mom sent me!

The Christmas tree that the YM/YW sent me from the ward!

Another Mouse....
